Bio
I’m interested in what makes biological systems unique – their ability to actively control and maintain a state or achieve a goal. I focus on neurons and the brain, being the specialized cells and organ devoted to control. I explored these ideas on many scales, from the point of view of ion channels, individual neurons and networks. Now in the Yartsev lab, I focus on the control of natural movement in freely behaving animals, using the advantages of bats’ specialized physiology to explore motor control in new ways. I like to keep my free time unstructured.
